With every news report facing us each morning, most of us realize there is something really wrong going on in our world today. The fact that so many people seem to think everything is fine and work even harder toward causing division in the world is beyond belief especially when you consider the good such people could accomplish with common sense and a Christian attitude. Pipe dreams aside, you probably have trouble understanding the whys of so many events today.
The major issue that has always caused wrinkled foreheads trying to decipher the why of it all is the fact that if you hurt or kill a pregnant woman and, subsequently her unborn baby, you will be liable for murder of both the woman and the child. BUT, legally and up to the point of birth in some situations, it is very legal in our country to kill a baby in the womb without a problem of legality or a case of murder. When a concerned citizen exposed the selling of baby parts with proof in the Planned Parenthood clinics, the concerned citizen faces lawsuits and Planned Parenthood seems to be the victim . . . and babies still die needlessly.
Now we are faced with a lot of changes in our country and a multitude of refugees are flooding our borders. As good Americans, these people are provided for . . . while our veterans continue to receive substandard treatment in some cases and so many are actually homeless and mistreated. When I was growing up, my mother was generous with the little we had at the time but the family still came first even if we cut back a bit in order to help another. That doesn’t seem to be a priority today with the men and women who come back from war situations and have to fight for their lives to live here.
Although not nearly as rampant as Europe, we are experiencing hurt and death from some of the refugees who seek refuge here. Towns and cities are expected to take up the slack on this while the government keeps allowing more in than can be dealt with right now. Many of the Muslim refugees will not assimilate so we face many of their religious requirements that are not in line with life in America today. Welfare was stretching quite thin before this influx of refugees and isn’t getting any better now. You have to stop and think about how many citizens in our country do pay taxes and how much longer can we consider having the government look good and gracious on our hard-earned dime.
So many of the politicians we, the people, have voted into office care more about their agenda than represent the interests of the people who voted for them. Just this week, one politician was leading a crowd in chanting about impeaching the President. I know this isn’t a perfect world but with several other countries who wouldn’t mind seeing the United States fail and a small country who keeps trying to get their missiles to hit our coast, you would think petty difference and post-traumatic shock from the presidential election would be put aside in trying to protect and save our country.
The name calling, abrasive behavior, the distorted truths fire off from the losing side of the November 2016 election isn’t changing anyone’s mind about the way the votes went last year. They thwart every move President Trump makes and blurs the needs that have to be dealt with while they continue to obsess over the country’s rejection of their candidate’s election to office. There are gatherings (aka riots) most every week in mourning for their fantasies about how the world could have been perfect . . . if only.
Guess that common sense isn’t readily available these days. It certainly doesn’t seem to be coming from the halls of higher learning. We have a good many problems that need to be addressed soon in our country if only the world could come up with a miracle . . . not for the fountain of youth but for the sense needed to finally grow up.
A relative told me that she doesn’t care how many refugees the United States brings in as long as the government protects us. Yes, she is an adamant Democrat. Seeing how well that is working (not!) in Europe, kind of makes you wonder.
When I was growing up, I was always told by my mother that physical confrontations weren’t a sign of strength but evidence of a lack of intelligence. She said that when someone lashes out with their fists, it’s usually because they don’t have the brain power to make a substantive reply. A look at what is going on in the world around us today reveals that the bully tactic is in full play with very little brain power behind it.
During the recent presidential campaign, the Democratic supporters resorted to violence at President Trump’s rallies instead of concentrating on supporting their own candidate. All it took was the sighting of a Trump hat to set them off to physically assault people who were just exercising their right to have a say in the election results.
The college students are spending more time being incensed by reality and taking it out in physical violence and destruction of property. They are being subsidized by loving parents in order to attend institutions of higher learning while degrading themselves with revolting language, inciting destruction of property and beating up any opposition. Of course, when confronted, they always have their safe spaces and hot cocoa waiting.
Whenever a speaker is invited to a campus, these days, if the ‘children’ don’t approve, they burn down college buildings, destroy property, and threaten the speaker. Actually, I think they either do not understand what the speaker might represent or are afraid he/she might be using words to argue that might strain the limitations of their brains. Instinctively, they may be concerned they will learn something which would mess up their angry mind set.
Even many of the professors egg the students on with biased pieces of education and give them their view of the world which they must adhere to in order to pass the class.
Seems to me that when manners fled the world and four-letter words became every day vocabulary, it blunted the brain waves and opened up empty heads to violent reactions in response to concepts they couldn’t understand.
The behavior of the Democrats was pretty childish at the recent speech given by President Trump. Instead of debating President Trump in a formal manner like the adults their constituents assumed they would be when elected, they came across as infants refusing to even give face value respect as people elected to represent the people of the United States. I remember the cliques in grade school where some of the girls would try and dress alike to show the ‘tainted’ ones that they weren’t part of the group. Then there were the sly hand signs and exaggerated grimaces of disapproval.
If I were to be generous in my view of the Democrats crude behavior, it would have ended the minute they couldn’t even stand and appreciate the service of a fallen hero and show respect to his widow.
I was listening to an interview on the radio today with Congresswoman Maxine Waters and was shocked at how she was using her political position to vent mostly unproven venom against President Trump and spoke early and often that she and others were already digging for dirt in order to impeach him. In fact, when she was initially asked by the interviewer, how she thought things would go with President Trump for the next four years, she immediately spewed forth, “I’m not anticipating him even being here for the next four years!”
Now, it is evident that there are a group of people who are less than happy with the new President. I think they should remember a word or two of their rhetoric of eight years ago when they whined that we all need to work together. Miz Waters, however, has yet to uphold a position of responsibility and good example. I think her nasty words towards a man legally voted into office is offensive to people (some of which could be her constituents) who used their American right to vote the way they want. She and many others of her mind set are all for honoring the vote of every American . . . as long as they vote their way!
In my opinion, when you are an elected official, you should work to bring people together rather than create and inflame division. A true politician would strive to put aside personal baggage and see how they can make the transition go smoother. Her rude words will make their way to President Trump and she should now by now that he doesn’t bother to listen to advice coated with scathing tirades and untrue insults.
The way elections go, there is usually a back and forth between who has the upper hand in the government. This time around, the Republicans won the Senate and House majority plus a Republican president. Her party is always talking about reaching across the aisle for the good of this country. It might be time for her and a lot of other politicians to truly work towards the good of the country.
It is obvious her first concern is not a truly united country but a chance to vent her disappointments. Young people often look to actions of politicians in office and example go a long way towards educating future voters.
