Pointe du Hoc

You never understand war until you stand on a former battlefield of one. Even with that experience, one’s imagination cannot fathom the bravery, the elements, the fear, and expectations that are either met or lost in the course of a battle. My son and I had an afternoon during a trip a long time ago now to visit Pointe du Hoc and stand on the grounds and step into the bomb craters left by one of the final battles of World War II.
